Power Center for Performing Arts
The Power Center for Performing Arts was completed in November of 1971 at a cost of $3,600,00. The major source of funds for this project was provided by Regent Emeritus Eugene B. Power. The Center was designed by Kevin Roche, John Dinkeloo and Associates, and constructed by the O'Neal Construction Company. Located on Fletcher Street, the theater seated 1,420, providing an advanced lighting system, a stage that converted from a proscenium to a thrust stage. The promenade lobby was faced with reflecting glass which mirrored Felch Park and featured twin glass-enclosed spiral staircases.
